of creative arts students
 

A series of creative works by students of The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) are to be showcased at the “MOVIE11 X OUHK Screening of Student Films & Animations” on three Saturdays in the first quarter of 2019. It is a collaborated project between the OUHK and K11 Art Mall.

All the works shown at the three screenings are created by students of the OUHK Bachelor's degree programmes in Animation and Visual Effects, Cinematic Design and Photographic Digital Art, Creative Advertising and Media Design, and Creative Writing and Film Arts. Genres include animations, micro movies, documentaries, experimental films, etc.

A launch ceremony was held last Saturday (19 January) at the K11 and it was officiated by OUHK Vice President (Academic) Prof. Reggie Kwan Ching-ping, Vice President (Administration & Development) Prof. Tong Chong Sze, Dean of the School of Arts and Social Sciences Prof. Charles Kwong Che Leung, Head of Creative Arts cum Associate Professor of the School of Arts and Social Sciences Dr Rebecca Leung Mo-ling, and K11 Concepts Limited Art Projects Team Manager Mr Cyrus Chan.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Reggie Kwan thanked the K11 Art Mall for offering a valuable opportunity and platform for the OUHK students to display their creative works and demonstrate their talents to the general public. He said that the University has been committed to nurturing students to become future leaders of Hong Kong's cultural and creative industries. Though the creative arts programmes in the OUHK have been launched for just a few years, he said the students have obtained remarkable achievements from various competitions and activities. Prof. Kwan hoped that through the screenings, OU students' works can reach and inspire a much wider audience.

Prof. Kwan added that this year's OUHK Graduation Show of Creative Arts will be held from 21 June to 1 July at which about 100 pieces of creative works will be exhibited. He sincerely invited the public to visit the exhibition and get a glimpse into the creative minds of OU students.

Prof. Reggie Kwan hopes that through the screenings at K11, OUHK students' works can reach and inspire a much wider audience.

The first screening was held immediately after the launch ceremony. Ten animations under the theme of “Activation” were shown. Works included the “Best Animated Short Film” of the 2017 Golden Horse Awards Losing Sight of a Longed Place and the nominated work for the “Best Animated Short Film” of the 2018 Golden Horse Awards Kin's Hair.

The second screening will take place on 16 February (Saturday) with the theme “Embrace”. Three short films including a documentary about the late “Uncle Ice-cream” Mr Wong Kwong will be shown. Six short films under the theme of “Film Power” will be featured at the last screening to be held on 16 March (Saturday).

The first screening was held last Saturday (19 Jan) at which ten animations under the theme of “Activation” were shown.

公開大學與K11攜手合作 展示創意藝術學生創新作品

香港公開大學(公大)與K11購物藝術館合作舉辦「MOVIE11 X公開大學學生電影及動畫放映」活動,於二零一九年首季其中三個星期六放映一系列公大學生的創意藝術作品。

三場放映會播放的作品均由公大「動畫及視覺特效」、「電影設計及攝影數碼藝術」、「創意廣告及媒體設計」、及「創意寫作與電影藝術」課程的學生創作,類型包括動畫、微電影、紀錄片、實驗短片等。

大會於上周六(一月十九日)在K11購物藝術館舉行開幕禮,由公開大學副校長(學術)關清平教授、副校長(行政及發展)唐創時教授、人文社會科學院院長鄺志良教授、人文社會科學院創意藝術系主任暨副教授梁慕靈博士,以及K11美術館部經理陳卓鈞先生一同主禮。

公開大學副校長(學術)關清平教授在致辭時表示,十分感謝K11購物藝術館提供了一個寶貴機會及平台,讓公大學生的創意藝術作品及才能得以呈現於大眾眼前。他指出,公開大學一直致力培育學生成為香港文化及創意業界的未來棟樑。雖然該校開辦創意藝術課程只有短短數年,但公大學生於不同比賽及活動中均表現出色。他期望透過是次放映活動,公大學生的作品可進一步接觸及啟發更多觀眾。

關清平教授亦提到,今年的「香港公開大學創意藝術畢業展」將於六月二十一日至七月一日舉行,展出約一百件作品。他誠意邀請公眾參觀展覽,從學生的作品中一睹他們的無限創意。

開幕禮後隨即舉行首場放映會,播放十齣以「激活.想像」為題的動畫作品,其中包括二零一七年度金馬獎「最佳動畫短片」《暗房夜空》及二零一八年度金馬獎「最佳動畫短片」入圍作品《一毛所有》。

第二場放映會將於二月十六日(星期六)舉行,以「擁抱.時光」為主題,屆時將播放三齣短片,包括一齣關於「雪糕伯伯」黃廣的紀錄片。最後一場放映會則以「光影.力量」為題,於三月十六日(星期六)播放六齣短片。
